No, not yet at least. I took this picture of a rather ominous looking cloud the other day, sure looks like it could have been the end huh…  (picture taken in Cape Coral Florida)

On the other hand, South Florida is expected to experience record high temperatures through to the weekend so maybe there was something to it… I am also watching some rather impressive storms in the GOM that will mainly be affecting Central and North Florida over the next day or so. Nothing Tropical is forecast with these storms, or anyplace else in the Atlantic over the next 48hrs. Until next time, take care and keep cool.

According to the NOAA, El NiƱo conditions will continue through the winter months… As a result Florida is expected to have a cooler than normal season with above average rainfall. I am not real keen to think it might be colder than I like, but rainfall is usually a welcomed sight during the winter so the news is not all bad.

In the Tropics we have the disturbance in the SW Caribbean Sea that is being monitored by the NHC… I am not really sure what to make of that area right now and while those in South Florida should keep an eye on the feature, I would not say it is posing any sort of a threat to us either, at least not now. I will keep an eye on things and will create a post should the situation change. Until next time, take care and stay safe…

Things have been quiet in the Tropical Atlantic and it looks like that trend will continue for at least the next 5 to 7 days… Still, with about 6 weeks left before the season ends I would not stick a fork in it just yet.

South Florida experienced our first ‘cold front’ of fall during the day on Friday, ending our several week long run of afternoon heat index temperatures in the 100s. The forecast for the next week starts off with a weekend of high temperatures in the 70s but then quickly rebounds back into the mid 80s by early next week.

Not much else to discuss in weather news, so enjoy the cooler temperatures and take care until next time.

I have added a new Feature to StormWatch, a Visitor Map… While positions are approximate it does give a good overview of where visitors to the site are from.
